The Speech-to-Text Institute (STTI), a non-profit that seeks to unify and bring collaboration and standards to court reporting, unveiled 11 industry leaders and luminaries that have agreed to serve on the organization’s inaugural board of directors. STTI members include businesses and practitioners from across the speech-to-text industry, including businesses and practitioners that come from stenography, voice writing, digital reporting and videography backgrounds.

When Tri-C Community College set forth to integrate a digital reporting track into its court reporting program, they knew their deep experience with steno and voice would be helpful. But Jen Krueger, a professor within the program for nearly 30 years, wasn’t prepared for was the degree to which its new digital track will complement its voice and steno tracks.
Well after the recession of 2008 to 2010 began to relent, some court reporting firms noticed that cost-containment functions at law firms that had emerged out of necessity during the downturn had remained in place. Something similar occurred within state and federal courts where severe cost scrutiny continued long after the grip of the recession had loosened.
